100 years have passed since the first American aircraft carrier USS "Langley" entered service in 1922. During this period, the US has participated in several wars, including World War II, the Korean War, and the Gulf War, and aircraft carriers have always been at the forefront of these conflicts. The epoch-making American aircraft carriers are presented with examples both recent and past: from the Essex class, which was the most commonly built during World War II, to the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Enterprise, which saw service during the Cold War was placed, up to the highly modern "Gerald R. Ford" class.
