Who could have predicted that the venerable company founded in the middle of the 19th century and long specialized in road construction equipment, would have become one of the most famous vehicle manufacturers for the French army?
During the Great War, Laffly, faithful to its original vocation, only supplied national defense to ... rollers. But at the end of the 1920s, the manufacturer seduced the army with its LC2 "fast truck". Its range will therefore continue to grow, with particular success in the field of overseas and Saharan vehicles, as well as radio vans.
Then comes the purchase, kept secret, of the patent of the Austrian engineer Hollos which will propel Laffly to the firmament of all terrain vehicle specialists. To the point that, unable to meet all the demands due to the modesty of its industrial tool, the manufacturer of Asnières will form a consortium with Hotchkiss and La Licorne to ensure a production unfortunately hit in its tracks in 1940.
