The second part of the monograph on the Messerschmitt Bf 109 E concentrates on the operational history of the fighter units operating this type in 1938-1943. Their utility in air warfare in Spain, Poland, Norway, the Balkans, Russia and North Africa together with the Phoney War, the Western Campaign and Battle of Britain is thoroughly described, including the Emil’s duties as a ground-attack plane. The author uncoveres the fates of particular fighter units as well as individual pilots who fought in them.
