The South-eastren Europe (or occupied Yugoslavia) was important participant of the Second World War, since it covers most of the Balkans. During the war, occupied Yugoslav territories have different status: the Third Reich occupied Serbia with Banat and anexed north and eastern parts of the Slovenia; Italy occupied or anexed western parts of Slovenia, Dalamazia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and western Macedonia. Bulgaria did the same with Macedonia, and portions of the Eastern Serbia; Hungary anexed Backa and Medjimurje. Moreover The Independent State of Croatia was created in April 1941 on the territories of Croatia, Srem, Bosnia, Herzegovina and Dalmazia.
Later as the war developed, the Italian troops were engaged in other areas of Croatia. On the other side the Bulgaraian troops were used as occupying force in most of the Serbia sonce January 1942. As the different kind of resistance mushroomed, the gureillas also controled territories. After the Italy’s capitulation on 8th Setpember 1943, most of its territories were captured by the Germans, and/or Partisan resisters.
