This work concerns the heritage file of the memory of the 10th Air Force Fighter Wing, which has become and space. The book is a publication of the contents of a commemorative brochure from 1984 corresponding to the 30th anniversary of the stationing of the unit on the BA 110 of Creil. Distributed confidentially at the time, this very clear and richly illustrated text caught the attention both for its rigor and the richness of the events related.
Globally articulated in three parts, First World War, creation of the Fox and Duck SPAs, then between the two wars and the Second World War and, finally, the arrival of the reactor coinciding with the stationing at Creil. The saga of technical progress follows through the epic of seven different types of aircraft, from the Vampire to the Mirage F1 C.
These three stages, however different they may be by the nature of the circumstances and means, are shown to be constant by the loyalty and bravery of the unit personnel, aircrew, mechanics and technicians of all the corps concerned.
Finally, even if the unit, dissolved in 1985 on a base closed at the time, then reopened in 1990 to be again, in 2016, deprived of its aeronautical activity because the flag of the 10 remained that of the base present, his memory is still very present in people's minds.
Our editorial board selected this project for all these reasons, which attest to the necessary dynamics that motivate aeronautical activity. We have also chosen to add a central additional insert of a few pages of illustrations of the work to upgrade the infrastructure to NATO standards in the early 1950s.
