This new book in the popular Polish Wings series tells the story of Spitfire Vs used by Polish pilots in Britain during the war period 1941-1945. Volume 2 covers 315-318 Squadrons plus allied units. The books include listings of losses and of officially credited victories. The core of the Polish air units fighting alongside the Allies were experienced veterans of the 1939 invasion of Poland. They contributed to the UK victory in the Battle of Britain and to RAF air operations throughout the war. A total of 145 Polish fighter pilots served in the RAF during the Battle of Britain, making up the largest non-British contribution. By the end of the war, around 19,400 Poles were serving in the Polish Air Force in Great Britain and in the RAF. Features over 200 photographs, mostly previously unpublished wartime images, and 36 newly-created colour profiles by Robert Grudzien showing top and bottom views of aircraft and their colours and markings.
