We are setting sail again!
Our, or rather your, magazine is the history of ships, men, navies. Looking at it, I see the evolution of the boats, but also of the combat methods, of the means used in operations. And, clearly, we are at a turning point, a new stage.
The world is very turbulent, the sea is the scene of clashes, some quite subdued, others more direct. The latter have seen the emergence of new weapons, robotic, autonomous or remotely controlled devices: drones. It seems that naval forces are increasingly turning to these devices, unmanned units, thus reducing human risks. Are we heading towards combat with remotely piloted machines, or even robots, the end of the great captains? The future will tell, it is one of the small subjects of our news, unfortunately more and more oriented towards military developments.
We obviously find our usual sections, books, miniatures, screens…
Our approach to Pearl Harbor as seen by sailors is back, with the second part of the story.
Another saga, that of the blockade runners, which sees its conclusion with these sailors active until the end of the conflict.
A big leap back, to the time of King Philippe IV “le Bel”, with the creation and beginnings of the first French maritime arsenal, Clos aux Galées, in Rouen. The Kingdom of France is adopting national maritime structures. No doubt we will talk about it again soon.
We return to our times, blending past and present with a study of Japan's geopolitics. It has evolved a lot, but the subject is very current with the growing tensions in this area.
