In view of the state and the strategic implementation of the French Navy in the 19th century, it is easy to understand why the so-called French Navy has never really been able to measure up to other navies, technically and doctrines of employment, the school of the "young navy" not having lived up to the expectations of the officials who were more irresponsible than ever.
In short, the articles on this navy at different times are quite edifying and if the subjects were not of the serious genre, we would have died of laughter to the point of wondering how certain units were able to navigate or even be put into operation, because side military value it sucks to shit!
Excellent articles therefore whose level borders on 10 out of 10 taking into account the period documents available, the feat lies in the production and layout, subjects which will greatly interest naval model makers (something dealt with in a boat issue Model)
For the rest the news, the news are the centerpieces of this magazine which with 118 numbers on the counter appears as a sure and certain value.
Fleuves & Canaux - Marc Debeer.
- Happy initiative and great publication in this issue with a generous article (almost 40 pages) on a rarely treated subject: the navy during the war of 1870 and until the exile of the Communards in New Caledonia. Even if the fights are rare, here is the occasion to make a very complete point, quantitative and qualitative, on the French and Prussian fleets at the end of the Second Empire. Among the other articles, let us note the first part of a study on the geopolitics of the Indian Ocean, the presentation (to our knowledge a first in France) of the naval combats of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and a presentation of the "Gamma ", these Italian World War II combat swimmers. An exciting number that deserves to be kept.
Rémy PORTE - Guerres et Conflits.
- Magazine dedicated to the navy, from all countries and all times.
Remarkable work with articles which are real structured, complete and original files. 3 subjects, 3 eras and of the 3 only one “to follow”… we would like to see this technique implemented on many aeronautical magazines….
One point that can be improved however: the titles of the files (and the headings) which stand out little ... but we will admit that this is a very small detail compared to the mass of information provided by this magazine.
