Volume 2 covers the historical part, with more than 300 pages, 6 historical documents and 472 photographs.
Class battleships '' Iowa '' had exceptionally long career that marked naval history. They will wear, of course, the flag of an admiral in the Task Groups in the Pacific. We will see them into the sea during the conflict against Korea and one of them will return to service during the Vietnam War. In the 1980s, Iowa and New Jersey were integrated with the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean to protect American interests during the Lebanon war. Iowa will be in 1991 in the Persian Gulf, following the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq and in the same year, Missouri and Wisconsin will draw 406 mm shells on Iraqi positions. These buildings were therefore operational from 1943 or 1944 and then permanently removed from active service in early 1990. Definitely a record for a class of high-tonnage warships.
So you will find in the pages of the two volumes, the history of technology and history of these battleships that were great successes and made the pride of the US Navy.
