Publisher's Information: A comprehensive illustrated volume on the day fighters of the Luftwaffe units deployed in the West and later on the Defense of the Reich. The volume is organized chronologically beginning with the establishment of these fighter formations set up in the period from 1935 to 1939 and the first offensive campaign over Poland. At first glance, it may seem illogical to also deal with the war in Poland. But this is where World War II began. At the end of hostilities, many units deployed over Poland moved west following the declaration of war by England and France on Germany on September 3, 1939. It has was followed by the offensive against Germany's western neighbours, by operations against the United Kingdom until 1940-1941, then the need to organize defenses against Allied units operating from the United Kingdom on the continent, the so-called Reichsverteidigung (defense of the Reich).
“Over the years we have received many requests for photos from people interested in the Luftwaffe. We are fortunate that our archives contain a good number of striking and significant images of German fighters. Although there are already a number of good publications dedicated to Luftwaffe fighter pilots, we decided to create a volume featuring some of our best photos. Simply put, that's how this book was born. There's plenty of new footage here - but we haven't entirely waived previously posted footage, as that would leave big gaps in coverage. For this reason, the reader also sees a number of known images, but hopefully in much better quality than before. The photos are complemented by a number of excellent profile illustrations, which may just spark new ideas for modelers and potentially inspire decal makers to create something new.
