Featuring mostly previously unpublished photos, this book describes the involvement and daily life of German Fighter Squadron 5 (or JG 77), stationed during the Second World War on the west coast or in the far north of Norway, from where it attacked Allied supply convoys for the USSR or the Soviet armed forces themselves. The events of the war surrounding JG 5 (77) are described in minute detail, almost day by day, in the manner of a chronicle. The period covered stretches from February 1941 to the end of June 1943, and reports from squadron members lend a personal note to the chronicle entries. All organizational changes, as well as enemy aircraft shot down and own losses, are mentioned in the texts under the corresponding date (Mombeek).
